Reading Practice & Comprehension: Visual Pacing

Technique: Visual Pacing — words fade the moment your eyes should have moved past them

The full passage is on screen — but a gold pacer moves through it, and each word fades away just after the pacer passes. Fall behind, and the text disappears before you read it. It's the closest thing to training your actual eye movement while reading, and it's exactly the habit strong IELTS and exam readers build.

How this helps your reading

  1. Choose a passage below — each is written in an IELTS-style academic tone.
  2. Press play. The whole paragraph is visible, but words fade away one by one as a gold pacer moves through the text — read each one before it vanishes.
  3. Adjust the fade pace (words per minute) to match your level — start slow, and push it faster as you improve.
  4. When the passage ends, answer 5 comprehension questions to check what you actually absorbed at that speed.
